Digi-Watt
Watthour Meter Product
Description
Safety Certifications
Not UL Registered or Listed. But Pending.
|
The Digi-Watt Meter watt hour counters was designed to measure accumulated
kilowatt hours on any electrical system that has one, two or three phases, each
one approximately 120 volts AC to neutral. The 1000 and 2000 series, measure
power on electrical systems with 220 volts AC to neutral (most of the rest of
the world, including industrial use in North America). Rather than mount in a
standard meter socket, the meters were designed to be installed in any NEMA
approved electrical enclosure. An optional mounting plate is available for easy
installation of the counter.
Each meter consists of several components
·
An electronics module
·
One, two or three current transformers (CTs)
·
An electro-mechanical counter to display the accumulated kilowatt
hours
·
Meters are available in several configurations for different types
of service
·
Single 120 volt service
·
Single 240 volt service
·
Single three-phase, 208 volt service in delta, wye and wild leg
(stinger) configurations
·
Single three phase, 277/480 volt service
Installation Overview
Caution
Serious injury can result from
electrical shock. Be sure to turn off the electrical power before installing any meter.
Fire can result from loose electrical connections.
Ensure that all electrical connections are
secure. If you do not understand theses instructions hire an experienced electrician
to install the meter for you. Help is also available from the factory buy phone or email.
In most localities a permit and inspection is required to install the meters.
Digi-Watt watthour counters are designed to be mounted in any type of
standard electrical enclosure, a meter socket is not used. The meter is
connected to the neutral line and to each of the power lines to provide the
voltage reference for the power measurement and to provide power to run the
meter. The power line carrying the current to be measured is passed through a
current transformer (CT) and the CT is connected to the meter. A 120 volt
service requires one CT, a 240 volt service with neutral requires two CTs and
three-phase, 208 volt service, needs three CTs. A 240 volt service without
neutral requires one CT and a three phase delta service (no neutral) requires
two CTs. Connecting two wires from an electromechanical display counter
completes the installation.

have other rights which vary from jurisdiction to jurisdiction).
Damage from lightning strikes, power surges, and improperly connecting the
meter to the power source are not covered by the warranty.
Our limited warranty includes
replacement or repair of meters that fail for manufacturing problems, but it
does not cover lightning strikes, physical abuse, or problems caused by
miswiring. It also does not include consequential damages such as the cost of
